Christmas celebrations

Christmas this year is more special than ever, catching up with friends, family and loved ones on time missed over the last couple of years.  As always, there’ll be a lively and friendly atmosphere full of festive cheer making it the perfect place for your Christmas meal.

Our delicious 2 or 3 course menu oozes festive flavours combining all things traditional along with some new and original dishes.


Christmas Menu


Winter minestrone soup with pesto croutons and parmesan shavings served with Henllan brown bloomer bread (vgo, gfo)
Panko breaded smoked brie with caramelised apple, rocket and candied walnut salad with a redcurrant & port sauce
A rustic paté of duck, chicken breast and pork tenderloin wrapped in pancetta with a pear compôte and crusty bread
Prawn, avocado and chilli bruschetta with rocket leaves and harissa & lime dressing
Stuffed mushrooms with roasted peppers, butternut squash, black olives and sage with arrabbiata sauce and a parmesan & chestnut crust (vgo, gfo)

Main Course

Traditional roast turkey, pigs in blanket, goose fat roast potatoes, wild boar sausage & cranberry stuffing, honey roasted parsnips, braised red cabbage, pancetta & rosemary sprouts
Honey roasted & wholegrain mustard ham hock in a white wine parsley sauce served with roasted shallot mash potato, buttered green beans and chantenay carrots
Root vegetable and chickpea casserole with herb dumplings, goats’ cheese and crusty bread (v, vgo)
Slow braised shin of beef with red wine, wild mushroom & smoked bacon sauce, crushed carrot & swede and a sweet potato & thyme rosti
Roasted cod fillet on a bed of savoy cabbage with chorizo and butterbean risotto served with a tomato & red pepper purée and tenderstem broccoli (gfo)
(28 day matured) 8oz aged ribeye steak served with crispy fried onions, portobello mushroom, grilled tomato and pub chips (gfo)
Served with either brandy & peppercorn sauce OR port & Blackstick’s blue cheese sauce (£5.00 supplement)

Banoffee cheesecake with Chantilly cream and chocolate shavings
Meringue topped with winter berries, mulled wine & cherry compôte and Cheshire Farm raspberry ripple ice cream
Sticky toffee & date pudding with Cheshire Farm rum & raisin ice cream
White chocolate crème brûlée with a blueberry coulis and lemon shortbread biscuit
Selection of Carron Lodge cheese served with celery, grapes, bread, crackers and winter chutney (£3.50 supplement)

Booking is required when dining from our Christmas menu along with a pre-order.  A credit card is required at the point of booking to secure your reservation. Your card will not be charged but retained as a guarantee.

Your pre-order is required no less than 24 hours before dining.  You can complete your pre order online (a link will be emailed to you) or please complete the pre-order form and return to or pop it into the pub.


Cancellations – Cancellations and no shows will be charged at £10 per head.

Boxing Day

Boxing day is always a busy day in the pub with everyone out and about to continue the festive celebrations.  We will be serving our Sunday menu including our famous roasts as well as some festive specials.  Food will be served from 12pm until 8pm so let us do the hard work and you just sit back and enjoy!  Booking is highly recommended – BOOK ONLINE or 0151 648 7685.
